I know they required 28 days and different humidity than chooks.... can there be a sticky in the ducks section about hatching duck eggs please?

You are right. We do need one. We could put one together here and once it is corrected/edited, we could start a new thread and ask Nifty to make it a sticky.

I agree, there is always a lot of talk on here about it. We really do need a sticky.

Some people up the humidity and mist their eggs every time they turn them. I have an old Redwood incubator that holds the humidity like no tomorrow. My waterfowl eggs are right along the chicken eggs. I don't mist or do anything special and I get tons of ducks and geese hatching. I think the secret to them is to lay them on their side and hand turn (esp on the call ducks).

But I am trying to hatch Muscovy eggs and those take longer.
I have gotten some great advice from others that hatch a lot of ducks and geese and am hoping I am doing all this right. They are different than my chicken eggs, that is for sure. And our homes are all different, as well. Right now in my house it is 54% humidity so when i cool the eggs down each day it helps but others in dryer climates might need to mist. I don't know.
I would love to see a sticky here, too. Don't forget to include all the ducks!

I just finished a successful hatch of 15 out of 17 ducklings. I used 55% humidity for days 1-25, and low 70's% for lockdown.

28 days for most domestic ducks. 35 for muscovy, i believe. 26-27 for call ducks. And up to 30 days for some wild waterfowl. I set the temp to 99.5. 50% humidity during most of the incubation. 70% humidity during lockdown. Waterfowl eggs should be turned on their side, not vertically.

thanks for the info, I will most likely set on Friday, I want to give my girls a few more days to lay some cleaner eggs for me... they seem to abhor the clean straw I have in various areas of the pen and choose to aly in mud. And if I move the straw to that area they either remove it or go to another muddy spot. My ducks are grumpy and opinionated and I love it!
