I too, do not think this was chicken attack. I think the chicken caught herself on something and cut it pulling back, or you had a predator try and pull her through the fence, but that generally happens at night.

I think that you are more upset than they are. It sound like you have enough room, if they were fighting bad enough to kill one of them, there would be a lot more feathers everywhere, and generally that would be in a tight confinement situation.

I don't think it was chickens. Look again.
