Hi all! I knew as I was ordering mail-order chicks that it was a bad idea since deliveries have been so messed up lately, but I took a chance because I only wanted 6 guaranteed females of certain breeds. They showed up yesterday, a day late and chilled, and I think only two will make it, if I’m lucky.
So! Does anyone know where I can find sexed chicks in Wisconsin, preferably near Manitowoc or Green Bay? I live in Mishicot and I can probably convince the man to drive up to 2 hours haha. I can’t have a rooster right now but I’d be happy with any mix of these breeds, or basically any no-pom, docile/friendly, good egg-laying, cold-hardy ladies:
Australorp
Barred Rock
Brahma
Buckeye
Buff Orpington
Cochin
Easter Egger
Olive Egger
Plymouth Rock (I love the silver penciled!)
Salmon Faverolles
Sussex
Wyandotte (I love the silver or gold laced but they're all pretty)
And then I have an order of these female goslings with My Pet Chicken, but I think I’ll cancel and look for someone local after the bad chick experience:
