Hello! I have the typical silver spangled hamburgs and I’ve been on a hunt to get some other colors if possible, I believe gold and white are also recognized colors, but I’ve heard of blue hamburgs as well, if anyone has any hatching eggs or knows any breeders I’d appreciate the help! Thanks!

We got some gold spangled hamburg chicks from sandhill that have turned out to be some of our favorites. One is so ridiculously polite and dainty that it's bizarre in comparison to our other heathens. And they really are the best looking chicks with how vibrantly gold they are.

As far as eggs, have you checked eBay and Etsy?

I’ll have to check out and see if they have anything available! As far as I’ve seen there’s pretty much only the silver spangled variety on those pages. Maybe I’ll have to figure out how to recreate the black and white varieties myself 😂 though I’m definitely not knowledgeable enough about genetics yet for that haha

I wanted to show you pictures of our two Golden Spangled Hamburgs because we really enjoy them.

Strangely our Hamburg Cockerel is the more flighty of the two but he's made huge strides since The Great Cheese Event.

We expected them to be flightier than they were. But the female has always been crazy docile. I think we just got lucky. It never felt like we even had to work with her. She just was always there to be picked up even if she didn't seem to demand attention or seem to indicate that we had to pick her up immediately like some of our other ones.

It was always more like, "oh? You're picking me up? Ok. Guess I'm a hand bird."

The male will flop off but she will almost always patiently just sit there until you put her down.
Naturally she's gotten lots of treats (later on. Initially we were just doing pickups without treats) to cement that behavior but she actually the same when we're walking around as when we're feeding her worms. Just supremely unbothered so long as she has somewhere steady for her feet.
