hi I have two silkie and 2 Serama/silkie hens. I’m looking to add a few more to our little family and am also looking for a small silkie or bantam hen for a lovely Veterinarian who took one of our chicks with a twisted hock. She has other chickens but would like a small friend for the adopted hen.
We have purchased from Dare to dreams farm because of the claim of a loving environment and delivery service but the chicks were not in good health and needed a lot are care and ended up being HUGE not bantams so they went to a friends farm.
Does anyone know of any local breeder who are loving and take good care of their chicken who is willing to sell? No luck on Craigslist. Thank you ❤️

Good Evening :)

We do not have any hens available but we will have silkie chicks that are sold straight run available come the first week of February. We take EXCELLENT care of our birds and have only gotten great feedback about the vitality of our chicks from folks all over the county. We are both in California so if you were not close enough to pick the chicks up the short distance shipping would not be to rough on them.

My only concern is that I cannot have a rooster, we already had one and had a neighbor complained. So I have to get checks that are genetically tested. I was told the testing is only $10 would it be possible to have it done before we get them? I think $10 us a small price to pay to not have to stress out the poor rooster and rehome or surrender him. It’s just not fair for the Roosters to go to homes where they aren’t wanted. When we hatched a batch of eggs we had half that were roosters and were crowing and a very young age probably three months old and while you’re looking to rehome them we were approached by someone who euthanizes them for a small fee and we were shocked that they would kill an animal just because it’s in the wrong environment and shouldn’t have Been there in the first place it was our fault not the birds. So we ended up sending them to a sanctuary that works with the city of San Jose. That’s my only concern with buying them straight run.
I’m happy to buy all their birds that are retired even if they don’t lay I just would like them young enough that we would still be able to have time to spend with them enjoy them. The last retired bird I got only lasted three years before she passed but at least they knew what I was walking into you know? So if you have anything that fits our needs please let me know but I can’t do straight run chicks with a clear conscience.
