Israel ? ארץ הקודש

I am not Jewish but have always wanted to see the Holy Land. I would love to take my family there someday.

We live outside Monterey, California so I have met several Jewish families here on vacation. One of the families came from Israel to go to one of large events out at Laguna Seca. Can’t remember if it was the Moto GP or the Italian car show.

Unfortunately, they decided to stay in the tiny and not so nice town of Castroville. Someone snatched their camera bags and some other valuables from their car. I felt so bad for them as they went on and on about how disappointed they were in America. It was their first trip here and sadly were saying it would be their last.

The lady was saying how safe Israel was compared to America. I knew she was just venting, but at the same time I was picturing news reports I had seen depicting clashes with Jewish settlers and Palestinians in the back of my mind.

I never heard from that couple again, but always hoped the rest of their trip was enjoyable and they were able to see what wonderful place most of this country is.

Oh! I know this site is for poultry, but I also looked into milking sheep. I liked what I read about Awassi sheep and the Israeli improved version called Asaf. Do you have any of those sheep in your area?

Sh... can happen anywhere! And yes we do live in a very secured country , just remember that the eye of the Hurricane is the most quite place!
I know those sheep breeds very well, and I had a long information exchange with another BYC MEMBER from Canada (Tara)
That grows
Black head Dorpers.
Every year I slaughter an Asaf yearling in Passover. I prefer its meat because the Awassi or as we call it the Baladi, has a wonderful fate tail that is used for flavoring a lot of ouer dishes , but the meat as a very typical "sheepy" taste that my family don't like,(but I like it very much!) So I buy the Asaf that is milder , and it is tasty too!
Here some dishes from the past
