Issues with one my young chicks

If your chick has feathers on its feet then it is a cold weather bird. You might try putting out a pan (like a pie pan) with water. They can walk through it or stand in it to cool down.
Great idea thank you, I actually just sprayed down the ground in their coop and also did grab a big deep bowl with water and ice to cool them down better. Thank you again!

I'm not so sure I'd call silkies a cold-weather bird, especially for the frizzles and show girls that have their skin exposed. We do let them out if it's above 20F as they do like to get outside in it though. The coop is heated to 40F so they'll melt the ice/snow off their feet when they go in.

Well no, I want them to big strong and healthy and of course make sure their eggs are as nutrious as possible :)

I forgot to take a pic hopefully tomorrow I won't forget, she seems way better today so there was something bothering her. Collidal Silver is truly amazing. I remember my mom having a serve eye infection and she took antibiotics but it didn't get there fast enough for relief. I start spraying it in her eye and on the outer lid. In a day or two she left way better.

I also sprayed down the ground for it to be colder and more relaxing for them. Have some nice melons in the freezer to give them tomorrow and cold veggies as well.

I do have a question, it's werid but I do have a overactive mind and I'm still learning things. Is it possible for chickens to give you any parasite?

Today I was chasing this aggressive rooster to sell. When I tried to grab him his wings smacked my eye. I started to think if a worm was in there and now hit my eye or something.

I washed my eye for a good 5 minutes after grabbing him and giving him to the neighbour who would buy the rooster.

I'm not trolling... I'm really serious here. Thak you.
Hi, Feathering Farm! No. I think unlikely unless the eye was cut. Even then, I doubt a problem with worms. Maybe a bacterial infection in the cut. If you're really worried about worms, just worm them when your chicken wormer says and don't miss each dose. It will make them feel more comfortable and, from the sounds of it, yourself as well! :D By the way, just for the record, I've had around 5-6 years experience with chickens. I must see if I can change my status. :)

Hi, Feathering Farm! (Btw, I've had 6 years experience with chickens) I installed a fine mister in the chicken run. We can get really hot weather here in Adelaide, too! It seemed to do the trick! I found out later that chickens cool down through their feet! At the time, in the beginning, I hadn't thought of putting out pans of water! 🙄

Actually, Silkies prefer the warm weather to the cold weather. Also, when wet, they can't lift their fluffy feathers away from their body to dry so it takes them a long time to do so. Though, like other chickens, if the weather gets too hot, it will affect them so you just have to keep an eye on them. If they start panting, move quickly to cool them down as with any chicken. Good luck!

Thank you! No thank God it didn't happen but the wing clipped my face. Today is a lot cooler so today I'll take a picture (hopefully) of the chick. She seems to be doing much better! I noticed today when she was eating that some snort slim came out her nose, and she sneezed a few times. But she is no doubt eating way more than just drinking water all day makes me happy. BTW anyone know if the sun helps to heal quicker or just need? I am working on finding a way for the sun to smack through the fence coop since their tiny home inside the home (coop) is blocking the view.

It really worked I will continue to do this. I also get a bunch of ice and toss it on the ground to melt around them to keep the ground really cold I'll also just spray the ground down with water. Not rhe point of everything being mushy but just enough to feel the cool temperature under their feet. I really want to know what the breeds for. Again, hopefully, I will take pictures and update you all here. Thank you again all! :)

Hmm. That does sound like a cold but does depend how often she does that, I suppose. Sun always helps. 🙂 It sounds like you're doing something right! Good luck. Update us when you can! 🙂
