Unfortunately heavy thunderstorms like we’ve been having create their own problems in a fresh burn. Soil and ash are hydrophobic to a point, and there’s a lot of area that doesn’t want to absorb water, just repels it. Crews are fighting the real possibility of flash flooding with debris flows. Some of these thunderstorms are producing 2-3” per hour volumes. Thankfully they’re fast moving.
For right now I’d be happy for .1” per day every day for a month.
