It looks bad but the chick is ok

Not sure what happened with this egg. Yolk was absorbed and somehow so much blood. I didn't want it flailing around so instead of leaving it in the incubator I wrapped it up to soak up the blood and held it in a towel in the sun. Chick had a vigorous peep and when it dried I called the new owner. She came and picked up her chicks. Told me tonight the chick had perked up and was eating and drinking. She made sure to see it eat and drink and stuck the chicks under the broody hen. Hopefully it lives. That's so much blood it's crazy.

New owner reports chick is doing well. Eating, drinking and moving about just a bit wobbly. Chick is just about 24 hours old by now.

Anyone else with a lot of blood- don't automatically panic because it might actually be ok for your chick.
