Rivendell Chick
Songster
One of the silver linings of quarantine for our farm was being able to be home all spring to start chicks - ours arrived peeping loudly on Good Friday
We just moved them into the new coop we have worked hard on for several weeks, but the storms arrived before we could roof the run, so they will be in the coop for a few days. At six weeks today they had outgrown the bathtub brooder!
It STORMED ALL NIGHT. I knew the coop was tight and dry, but I still felt like a parent with their kid at camp when bad weather hits, hoping they are warm and dry. I added a battery-powered lantern just in case, placed in a nesting box to create a soft glow. This morning 7 of them were asleep around it, with the other 3 in the box next door. I was concerned about mid 50s temps after the brooder room was around 75, but they seem ok inside.
Hoping for a break in the weather for them so I can open all their vent windows, but rain in the forecast for the next 10 days. I knew there were other new chicken parents here that would understand
