Itchy after in coop

Lately I have been itchy after picking up my chickens. I do not see lice or mites on them, but in the last couple of weeks when I pick my girls up I get raised bumps that itch like crazy. It is very similar to a chigger bite. Any ideas what this can be and how I can treat my chickens, coop, and yard?

Look for red roost mites which can cause irritation in people as well. They live in the coop and can bite people looking for chicken blood.

Permethrin spray should work if it is anything insect related.
