So at what point should I start closing the windows in the coop? It's supposed to be 43 tonight and 47 tomorrow. It's August for crying out loud!

I'm in NJ and it's getting cool at night here too. I shut the doors and leave one window open, then reopen the doors in the morning. Young chicks I make sure they have a light on that they can get into the warmth if they need it and can get out of it if they don't.

Depends on a few things, like the wind, and how old the flock is....cool temps alone are not a big problem. Cold weather that could cause health problems because of draft etc...should always be avoided.

Mere cold evenings in August are ok.

On weather.com I have the same lows, 43 tonight, 47 tomorrow night. Guess I should close the house windows and doors before the wife gets home

No kidding...I have my first woodstove fire going right now.
Hope my critters are comfortable.
