It's Done - Roo#2 is in the pot

I am enjoying this thread, because this subject, next to the cost of the run, has been the hardest for me since our journey began 4 months ago.

My daughter who's 18, said we'd gone redneck too! Last night I baked chicken breasts for dinner and she said, chicken again?! oh is that the rooster ya'll killed? She said I want to know ahead of time what we're having, and rolled her eyes, I just laughed.

We stared out with 15 roos, dogs got two, heat got one, we've processed 6, we're keeping 2, and we have 2 left to process. Our son's (who are in there 20's) wanted to process them, I've refrained so far because they almost had a glint in their eye, and I was concerned they may "experiment", they're not morbid either but one's a marine and the other very curious about such things.

We may go ahead and let them do the last two, under dad's supervision, so he can teach them the proper way, and have an atmosphere of respect. I'm really funny about it, DH picked one up by the neck that I had caught, and on his way behind the shed, I yelled "don't hurt him!", he said "I'm not....I'm just going to do what has to be done"..... it's not easy.
