Hey Everyone,
I wanted to introduce myself a bit.... I have only had backyard chickens for a little over a year. I am a stay at home mom to a wonderful 3 (soon to be 4) year old daughter and my husband and I wanted to teach her some patience, responsibility, and what it means to care for something (worked perfectly). We started with 3 chicks in the spring of 2016 as an Easter gift for her - bought a coop, bought a bigger coop, ended up with 3 more chickens this past spring, an older hen went broody so we just hatched a few eggs (not sure if we will keep the chicks or gift them to a friend). We have 4 americaunas (one was sold to us as an americauna, but it's all white?), 2 silkies, and 2 chicks of unknown breed. We live on 2 acres in Pennsylvania, so we have the space for a small amount of chickens. I have to admit, it's become a bit addicting.
My husband and I own our own electrical services company and that keeps us busy, but also gives us a lot of freedom. We enjoy hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching/playing sports. Guilty pleasures include real housewives shows, orange is the new black, wine, purses I can't afford but buy anyway, chickens, did I say wine?
Looking forward to being a part of this community. Have a great day!
