Well I have always (ever since I can remember) wanted a farm. I live in town, so I can't have any farm animals, including chickens. So I have been content with just having a big garden, until my grandmother told me I could keep chickens on her land. This spring I finally got my first chickens. It was a rough first, 16 died in the first three weeks and then ten were killed by wild dogs, the rest were meat bird (rather thin) that we processed in June. September I order 16 Brown Leghorn hens, 52 Freedom Rangers and I also received 1 Dominique hen (I think). So far, only one has died, I ran over it with the chicken tractor. I am hoping to expand to goats and other livestock as soon as I can find land in my price range and out of the city.
