I'm going to be ordering my chicks the beginning of January for the 2009 season. I was going to get 6 EE chicks, how are they weather wise? We can go lower than -25C outside, are they a good cold hardy breed?

Generally, pea-combed breeds do better in the cold than single-combed breeds, so yeah, they'll do okay.

My EEs seem perfectly happy and it's been -16 C lately. I also have some Ameraucanas and they're fine too.

I have 2 standard amercana hens and right now the weather up here in Ny is in the 10-20's but they are in a shed so it is only 30-40 in there. They are very hardy.
