I was out earlier in the 102 deg temp and wishing for something to cool us off. Surely prayers are answered because not 2 hours later we actually had a storm blow through and it cooled things off to about 80.

For a moment I was really freaked out because there was this wet stuff falling from the sky, then I finally dug back in to prehistory memory and though, 'gee that must be rain...!' That's the first rain we've had here in over a month.

Of course, I WAS going to go out and finish wiring under the coop for the girls when they are ready to go out in a couple weeks, but I suppose we need the rain worse for the moment - the wire can wait!

Woohoo! Congrats on getting rain! We had a terribly loud storm come through here through the morning. LOTS of lightening...and yes...blessed rain. Unfortunately, the temps went right back into the 90's and well...you can imagine..you need GILLS to breath out there! UGH!

We're getting that storm in Youngsville, NC now. It isn't quite here yet but the wind is blowing really hard to were the tree tops are near bout touching the ground. This is exciting!!! We really need a LOT of rain. I hope it cools us down some. We need a good down pour round here. A good 5 feet of rain would work!

IT"S COMING!!!!! It's black as night out right now. The chickens are running for cover. Just a lil bit of rain right now but thunder coming from the west. I'm sooooo happy. I just looked on WRAL.com and they said we need 15 inches here in NC to get us out of this drought. As I'm typing the thunder is getting louder. 97 counties under advisories, watches or warnings! Mostly for heat but thank you Lord in Heaven we're goin to get some rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your chickens have forgotten what rain is too!

We didn't get a whole lot of rain, but it did downpour pretty good for about 30 min and it was enough to get the ground wet.

More than anything, it lifted my spirits a bit as I'm stuck in the dog days of summer doldrums!

I'm hoping for a bunch of rain but I dought that'll happen. The last time it rained here was last Friday morning for about 10 minutes. Good rain too. After that the sun came out, the ground soaked it in as fast as it fell and the humidity got up to like 500%!!!
