Hello everyone, I have been a "member" of BYC since 2012 but have only been here as a lurker, but now I feel that I should step out of the shadows and become a real part of the community. I follow the facebook page, which is where I usually interact, but here I am. Hello fellow poultry enthusiasts!

My name is Cass, and I'm from Menomonie, WI. I've had chickens for the past 7 years. Can't imagine my life without them.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I have 24 chickens, 2 RIR, 1 Buff Brahma, 1 Light Brahma, 4 Buff Orpingtons, 1 Copper Maran Roo, 4 Araucanas, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 2 adopted unknown breed Bantams that are both Roos, 4 Mixed breed Roos (Maran/Wyandotte & Maran/Buff Brahma) 2 Barred Rocks, 1 Black Australorp, and 2 Easter Eggers. My little Black Australorp is a cross beak girl and she does amazingly well, none of the others pick on her. Unfortunately last night she didn't come in from free ranging so I'm hoping she shows up some time today. It's funny how its always the super friendly ones you like the most that seem to dissapear. I'm afraid an Eagle may have found an easy lunch. Dang. :( Another one of my girls, one of the Buff Orps also has dissapeared a couple days ago, though I suspect that she isn't missing so much as setting on a clutch of eggs somewhere around the farm. She did the same thing to me a couple of years ago, and one day I came home from work to find her and 2 little chicks scratching around in the driveway. So, we shall see. I also have 1 Turkey, a Tom and he was raised by a hen with chicks and so acts like an honorary chicken. He's a good boy too. How about you all, what do you have?

I have a mixed flock of 9:
3 Barred Rocks
3 Red sex links
2 Speckled Sussex
1 Rhode Island Red

Hope your BO shows up with a bunch of little ones!

Hi Cass, your post caught my eye because I'm the same as you. I've been a member for some time now, but as a lurker. I've finally taken the plunge and am actually an owner of chicks now! Yay!
