I haven't posted anything because I've been disappointed before, but for the last month I've been on pins and needles keeping this secret!!!
I've been able to count 5 little peepers so far.
All seem healthy and are staying close to mom.
Delilah is still hovering over the nest so there may be more still hatching or that I've just not seen yet.
I placed the duckling water dish and food dish close by so she has them when she's ready for a drink and bite to eat.
And so she can teach the little ones to use it when they are ready
I'm an excited Pmaw!
Y'all have no idea how much I wanted to post that she was on nest again, but I didn't want to jinx it and a few folks were really disappointed right along with me last year when she had 2 fully developed ducklings that didn't survive hatch.
So I kept it quiet and watched and waited.
Can't wait to get a good count! First ones hatched out yesterday so I suppose more could hatch today.
Yesterday was 34 days from when she first started to sit full time.
That's common right? To have them hatch out over the course of a couple of days?
