So my 4-H leader had recently lost her job and decided to go through this temp service to try to help her find another job. She just got a job and starts Wednesday, and was telling me about it this past Sunday. I decided to give it a shot, so i filled out the application and sent my resume, and this morning (well, Monday morning), I woke up to a message from the place.

I had no idea it'd be so soon! So, I have an interview with them on Thursday...and I'm super nervous.

Anyone have any tips/stories about temp services? I don't know anything about them, but since I'm only 19 and still in college, I figured they'd help me gain some experience, seems how nobody wants to hire a young person with no experience.

Oh, I lied. I have Data Entry experience.

Too bad I can't find a place to help me get a job in Alabama.

I'm sure you'll do great. I went with a temp agency once years and years ago and it was fine. They tested me for every office skill known to man and then found me a post where at least some of those skills were used... so no high stress walking into a job and not knowing the programs and such. Very nice since starting a new job is usually stressful enough right?

Just remember that without folks like YOU they wouldn't have a job... that tends to negate some of the nervous nellies for me.

Easier to get a job with a temp service than via regular employer.... but beware..... Do not be late, call in or mess up for at least 90 days or you can be terminated without cause....

Other than that..........

Every job I've had in the last 10 years has been found through a temp service.

Well, I've always been told to dress up for interviews. I've been to several interviews where I have dressed up, because that's what their dress code was, (yes, I stalked the place for a day to see how the employees dressed and acted..

) but the seasonal job I have now (Data Entry) I didn't have to dress up for the interview, so I'm wondering if I should just go in some nice jeans and a decent shirt..or if I should wear my dress pants, nice shirt, and suit jacket?

Why is this so stressful?!

So, what do I do? Do they seriously just find jobs for me?

I probably should've looked more into this before I decided to sign up, because I'm scared.

I've never missed a day of work, or been late.

I like working.

Dress for the job.. If you are going to a factory job, don't show up at the interview in a 3 piece suit.. Just sayin'

PS, I wore my best pair of black jeans, cowboy boots, and white button up dress shirt for my factory job interview. Nailed it.. and loving it to this day.

I used a temp service awhile back. Go to your first interview dressed very nicely, then when they call you back for an assignment dress appropriately for that assignment. Don't go to a factory job in a skirt and heels for example when you should be in safety shoes and jeans unless it's in the office. Don't go to an office job in the safety shoes lol.

Well, I honestly don't know what I'm going to be doing. This is my first meeting with them. Honestly, I'd like to work in an office-type setting, since I have computer skills already, and some customer-related experience. I was a Hostess for a few months before I moved in with my boyfriend in a different city.

I'm definitely not going to be picky though. I'll be a custodian or work in a factory. My boyfriend's dad is a custodian at a high school and I go and help him clean up after sports games sometimes, so if that can be counted as custodial experience, I've got that too. Ooh! I mow lawns in the Spring/Summer/Fall and do snow removal in the Winter..I've drawn blood before, (my mom is a phlebotomist (sp?) and taught me how) and I train horses.

So actually I have a little bit of silly experience-type stuff.
