My ducks started laying in December but I havent been able to hatch their eggs yet. Whats ironic is the day before they began to lay I let my sister use my incubator so she could hatch her bearded dragon eggs. It's her first attempt at incubating anything and now I couldnt even hatch my first eggs ever! Unfortunately bearded dragon eggs take like 2 months or more to hatch so I've been waiting forever!
Anyway last night I brought in an egg and got the serious need to hatch it. I don't know why but I really want to. Since she has my incubator I've decided to rig up my homemade fish tank incubator [this makes me laugh] which is actually what got me into hatching eggs in the first place. My 2 duck eggs were actually developing in it before I accidentally fried them at a few weeks into development. This was before I got my incubator and found BYC of course! I went to set it up but realized my thermo-hydrometer isn't working! I'm going to set it up as soon as I try new batteries or figure out whats the deal with it. As for now the little egg is keeping my company, and sitting safely on my tv stand. I don't expect it to actually hatch but it will be fun to try. I'll keep you all updated on what happens.
