So I have finally joined after hanging around reading everyone else's posts for about 3 months. I have decided to jump back into the chicken world after having no chickens for about 25 years.
So here are the answers to the standard questions:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got my first chickens when I was about 7 years old. Little banties. Our dog broke into the cage and ate them before they had feathers. I was devastated, so my mother bought me three RIR chicks. My flock grew to a motley crew of 12 hens that came from various sources. After high school it got hard to keep the birds with working my way through college, so I did not replace them when they shuffled off this mortal coil.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None right now, but the week of August 1 that is going to change!
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have two Silver Lace Wyandottes and two Buff Orpingtons on order from My Pet chicken.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I can't remember!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, reading, and crocheting right now. Something else is bound to come up!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am Director of Human Resources for a nonprofit agency, and I have three dogs.
