Last night I crawl into bed and as I'm falling asleep I hear one of my little chicks peeping really loud and fast.....I wait a few seconds to see if it stops, and when it doesn't crawl to the end of my bed to look in the brooder; it's in the living room, but I can see it from my bed....it's my [former] mystery chic who has turned out to be a barred leghorn. This is the same chic that on day three one of my dogs got - so I'm a little protective of her.

I watch her for awhile, and all the others are asleep, but she's walking around peeping her fool head off. I go to the brooder, and she comes right up to see me. I pick her up and she quiets down, I put her down and she starts peeping again.......so guess where 'Biker-chic' slept last night? If you guessed my bed - you're right! I made a little towel nest on my pillow, and the darned bird put her head on mine and went right to sleep - not another peep all night....

I HAVE LOST MY MIND!!!!

Been there, done that - only with an adult who cut her leg and got an infection. Wish I would have taken a picture when there were 3 cats, a dog, a rabbit, and a chicken all in my bed at the same time. And you think you're crazy.

You are talking to someone who has a one year old hen on her lap this minute -- at midnight, in my kitchen -- so if you have lost your mind, you are not alone... you are a chicken mama!

Sweet Dreams.

Thank goodness I'm not alone…

5-week-old bantam polish did the same thing last night. She would NOT shut up until I picked her up. Yup - onto a cloth diaper and next to my pillow. Didn't move all night - had to wake her up at 8AM!

So far so good this evening, though!

aaaawwwwwww that's so sweet i can't have my brooder in my house to much dust but they are in the shop which is about 25 ft from my back door and i've actually gotten up at 2am and checked on them because i thought i heard one peeping and if i had a very sick or injured bird i would have them in the house and if Twinkie had her she would prob love to be a house chicken
