Ivermectin paste rubbed on chicken for mites?

Someone tried to tell me that Ivermectin horse paste can be rubbed on the skin of a chicken at the neck and vent to get rid of mites and lice. I don't believe it, am I wrong? I know the injectible and pour on work.

I have never heard of the paste being rubbed on.
People do use it orally for worms.
