Ivermectin?

Hi All!
I have read so many different things about Ivermectin on here. Most people say 2 drops or 4 drops. How much is a drop? I have a Black Cochin Rooster and have no idea how old he is, as someone dumped him on our property. He is a pretty big guy though. It says on the package 1ml per 22 lbs. So I'm thinking a drop of a little less than 1/2 an ml on his back under the feathers?
Would so appreciate any help / thoughts on this matter. I don't want to make him sick or kill him, it looks like he has had a rough life so far.

Do you have the 5% pour-on or the 1% injectable?

5% pour on.

If you think he's pretty close to 11 pounds .5ml should be just fine. Even if he's under a little 11 pounds you'll be okay.

Go ahead and use it, it'll get any mites, but you might want to follow up with Fenbendazole (Safeguard or Panacur, liquid or paste).

Abstract

To evaluate the use of ivermectin as a bird anthelmintic, 29 White Leghorn hens naturally infected with Ascaridia spp., Heterakis spp. and Capillaria spp. were treated with 0.2, 2 or 6 mg/kg intramuscularly or 0.2 or 0.8 mg/kg orally. Faecal samples were collected before treatment and at autopsy, 2, 6, or 16 days after treatment, when the intestines were also examined for helminths. None of the treatments gave satisfactory anthelmintic results.

I know this is the wrong area to ask this question but you seem to know a lot about chickens. How would I tell if Doodle the Rooster is a Black Cochin or a Black Orpington?

I've never owned neither. If I'm not mistaken, Cochin's have feathers on their feet/legs and Orpington's dont.
