Hi,

I have seen older threads on this site about the Janoel 12, and I have some questions for those owners (mine arrived today).

  1. Did your incubator produce a slight odor?
  2. How accurate was your temperature?
  3. How did you control the humidity?
  4. Is there anything I should know about this incubator?
Thanks,
Noah

We have this model and have great hatches. Answers to your questions:

1. No odour
2. Within 1/2 a degree
3. Measure or control humidity? To measure we used a hygrometer ($10 from Amazon). To add more humidity, we used a straw put in at an angle through the hole at the top of the incubator and dribbled in a little water at a time.
4. We've had great hatches. No secrets to this model. Enjoy!

Thank you. Mine produced a smell but it may just be because it was its first time running...

One other question, did you calibrate the incubator's thermometer? It appears mine is .6 off, which corresponds with other peoples reviews online.

No I didn't know how to do it.
I have a Magicfly Incubator, but i think it has the same functions as the janoel12.

1: Mine has an odor on my first use but i think it was the plastic, but after a few uses the odor is gone.

2. Temperature is Slightly accurate base on my experience, I havent used any other external thermometers, so far i am having around 80% hatch rate.

3. For humidity you can use an external hygrometer, but for me, (i dont have a hygrometer) i just put 90ml of water on the first day and refill it around 20-30ml of water every 3 - 4 days and another 90ml on lockdown.

4. you can calibrate your incubator by HOLDING THE SET button for a few seconds and wait for the numbers to change, then navigate through it using the UP and DOWN buttons, Look for the CA then press set again to calibrate your temperature. (there is also a youtube video for a better understanding of the other settings.)

@tempesta kindly explained how. I can give more instruction if you would like. Also, mine was actually 1.2 degrees Celsius off.

Haha, besides the logo, identical. I bet both of our instruction labels have no logos on them.

You may want to check since our incubators are probably the same thing. Mine was about 1.2 degrees Celsius off. Also, you can stick the external thermometer in the hole so that you do not disturb the temperature opening the incubator.

Thank you. My instructions suggest 300ml but that seems like WAY to much. I plan on dripping water through the hole like @joduh suggested.

I found a YouTube video a few hours ago with instructions on how to do that. Highly recommend you do it... Everything online says they are off by a degree or two.

Thanks again everyone!

- Yes, the manual didnt have anything on it except a few pictures and a bad translation of english.

- Mine was 1.0 degrees off, and i just leave it as is, so far so good.

- LOL, 300ml maybe too much unless you are having a very high temperatures, we sometimes are having a 39 degrees heat here but i just put 90ml on the first day and 20 - 30ml over 3 - 4 days.

- one more thing, my incubator sometimes goes over 39.7 degrees when we are having extreme heat here in my country, i experimented before and just watched as the temp goes high like that, but i still got 80% hatchrate, 9/10 eggs hatched, and 1 with a splayed leg that died after 2 days and 8 normal and healthy.
