Hi everyone,

I'm new to the list. I'm in sunny FL. My neighbor gave us 4 japanese bantams. I know one is a hen because she's laying but the other three are young. What do you think the gender of these are?

Thanks for your help.

Kim

Thanks so much! You guys are awesome. The cockerals are the ones with the feathered legs and bigger, taller combs? Is that how I would tell?

Hmmm, now what to do. Luckily, the roos can go back to the neighbor but I'll need to replace those roos with a few pullets. I would really like to get some barred rocks bantams. Do you have any recommendations on where I might be able to get 3 or 4 barred rock pullet bantams? I did look at My Pet Chicken's website. They have very nice birds but a little bit pricey for barred rock bantam pullets although maybe that's the going rate. I really don't know.

Thanks again.

Kim

I think the feathers on the legs are an 'oops'. I dont think that they are supposed to have them.

The hens for this breed will have hardly any comb. What you see on her now is all that she will get.
