My mom wanted some of these chickens added to her flock, so I found a guy local that bred some, not "standard of perfection" with all short legs, but figured it would be a good start. bought 3 dozen fertile eggs from him for 20$. 1.5 dozen black, 1.5 dozen white with black tails. he even threw in a few extra blacks because he had so many eggs. i ended up with 39 total. put them in my incubator and 9 of them hatched. i got 4 blacks and 5 whites currently living. 1 black and 1 white died right before they finished hatching. their 21 days were up thursday night, should they all be hatched by now? or should i give them one more day. I had read about their lethal genes and bad hatch rates but i thought i would get atleast 50% of them to hatch. Anyone else experienced with these birds? if so, is 9 out of 39 eggs hatching and living typical?
