I have a few Black Jersey Giants, and a few Austrolorps.
I buy from feed stores and friends. I don't keep up with exactly who came from where. No rooster.
Typically my BJGs have had red faces. Now I have this beautiful bird with black legs and a beautiful black face (waddles, etc) - eyes are deep black and beautiful. She has the green shimmer. I read here today to look at bottom of feet color - so I will look today and post.
There is a possibility that a summatra (sp?) may have played a part in this, but not likely. Friend has a rooster but swears it is always kept up. He thinks it's a BJG. But I've never seen the beautiful black face before. It is so unique and mysterious.
I am wondering if it is a variety of Austrolorp or BJG or just a mysteriously beautiful "one of a kind" gal.
Stick with me on this .. I will take pictures and post.
