I am starting with the Black Jersey Giants I ordered 26 pullets & 3 roosters from Cackle Hatchery & so far they all are living & thriving to be honest I am going to raise out of these next year when they mature to the proper age I am going to be asking $2.00 a chick for the strait run I have a cousin that has about 5 BJG pullets & he is the only other one besides myself who has any Black Jersey Giants . The Black Jersey Giants are VERY GOOD LAYERS Cackle states that each hen will lay from 180-260 eggs a year & they will lay some of those monster size eggs & they lay extra large eggs anyway so I am thrilled with mine & you will be also. The Black Jersey Giant were developed by the Black Brothers way back in the 1880's for meat & egg production . The Hens get up to 10+pounds & the Roosters are up to 13+pounds . The BJG's are the largest breed of domestic chicken there is & they will eat more than a standard sized chicken but this should be expected because of their size & they are often called the Gentle Giants . Hope this helps you out
