Jersey Giant. . .

Hello again! We were wondering if a rooster Jersey Giant, would be good to be the "protector" of a flock? Or would they be a problem for the smaller breeds. . . From what we've read, they're pretty calm, and are good with other breeds. Currently, we have a Sicilian Buttercup, Plymoth Rock, and Blue Andalusian. As of now, our flock is in a coop with a small run, but soon we're going to get a free ranging flock. Since they're so big, we wouldn't get one until we let them free range.

Right now, the main predators are Coyotes and hawks. We're thinking about getting an electric poultry fence, but that wouldn't help with hawks.

Thanks!

That's where the electric poultry fencing would come in. . .

Mainly what we're asking is, would he scare off the Red-tailed Hawks from the hens or would he just chicken (no pun intended) out when he saw the hawks? (we have tons of hawks in our area)
