Just a quick hello from MN! This summer, my family (husband and 2 young sons) expanded our critters from typical 4 leggers to include birds. We have been mostly loving it! We currently have 4 muscovy hens, a black orpington rooster, 2 bantam (black cochin maybe?) roosters, and 12 hens (6 welsummers, 2 barred rocks, 2 salmon faverolles, and 2 americauna or so we believe but not so sure). We live on about 2.5 acres in MN and really enjoyed watching the birds roam the yard foraging this summer...who knew it was so relaxing?! We sure didn't, or we would have gotten birds a long time ago. HA! Have found great info on this site going back before we got our birds, just now joining the forum though. Thanks!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers on this site before joining.) Raising chickens is a great experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
