Yes, blood spots are normal in eggs. You don't often see them in commercial eggs, because they all run through a candler that picks up irregularities and culls those eggs out. I can also sometimes use a spoon to take them out and use the egg and sometimes I just can't do it. You may find bits of gray matter in an egg too, that is just a bit of flesh that got caught up in the egg making process. I still can get grossed out by those and start to gag, even as I remove them and put the egg in my baking! lol

My poor duck that laid that huge double egg laid about three of them when she was starting up laying as a young duck. I felt sorry for her, but she settled down to lay normally which was a relief!

I hope mine lays the nice little 1 yolked eggs. Maybe thats what I heard this morning? I heard a "QUACK! QUACK! QUACK!.......... Quack quack quack ......... QUACK!!!" But I didnt think much of it. Lol. Poor girl. I think it becuz she didnt lay yesterday.

Wow! Those are some huge eggs in those pictures. I have gotten double yolk a couple of times from my ducks and they had a touch of blood like that. My guess also is just the stress of laying such a big egg. Once had a chicken years ago lay a triple yolk egg, one tiny yolk about a half inch in diameter and the other two yolks were Siamese twin yolks. It was really weird. Only happened that once and my camera was out of commission...

. She missed laying a day before and a day ofter then went back to normal egg laying. I felt so sorry for her. I can't remember if the egg had any blood or not in that one.
