Yes, blood spots are normal in eggs. You don't often see them in commercial eggs, because they all run through a candler that picks up irregularities and culls those eggs out. I can also sometimes use a spoon to take them out and use the egg and sometimes I just can't do it. You may find bits of gray matter in an egg too, that is just a bit of flesh that got caught up in the egg making process. I still can get grossed out by those and start to gag, even as I remove them and put the egg in my baking! lol
My poor duck that laid that huge double egg laid about three of them when she was starting up laying as a young duck. I felt sorry for her, but she settled down to lay normally which was a relief!
