Has anyone crossed these two? What did you get?

Unfortunately I had a bad hatch rate this past year so I have Jumbo Pansy Quail and am having to add new quail to my flock so I'm getting live birds locally which are JMF MeatMaker Jumbo brown.

Just wanting to see what coloration I might get.

I don't think there is one specific color you would end up with with this mix.

Well I guess I'll just wait and see, I'm planning to add some other type later this year as well.

I'd like to see what your pansies look like. Can you share some pics?

Here's one of my hens. I don't have great pictures of the roosters right now.

Pansy (jumbo or otherwise) is recessive, as is American pansy. If your jumbo birds are brown/wild/pharaoh you will get brown birds that carry the pansy gene but don’t show it. A cross of those birds would result in 25% pansy, 50% brown pansy carrier, and 25% straight brown. Jumbo just means birds reach 10oz by 10 weeks and can be any color. Not sure if your bird is pansy or American pansy (males have bright red head) but nice looking bird!
