The husband and I decided to look in to getting some chickens and once we started to read all the great posts and helpful advice we decided to jump in.

Over the last two months I have been building the coop and pen (I am a project guy - always have to be doing something). Have uploaded some photos to the album to show the progress.

Purchased our chicks the other day with a delivery date of Feb 14-15. Can not wait.

We were set on having four to start and we chose Golden Comet, Barred Plymouth Rock, Buff Orpington, and an Easter Egger.

We have a couple of shipments from Amazon and TractorSupply that should be here in the next few days to allow time to set up for the ladies.

We look forward to sharing our experiences, and reading more about yours.

! Great to have you in our community! That is a great looking coop - your chickens should be right at home! And those are some great breeds. Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC! If you'd like to chat with local poultry folk, find the VA thread in the link below and pop on over and say hey. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you

Hi :welcome Ed & Mark

Glad you could join the flock! That's a great looking coop you have there and I'm sure your new birds will enjoy it very much :D
Those are some lovely breeds you have ordered and raiding them from chicks is so much fun. It's something I enjoy very much and I'm sure you both will too.
We have a coop contest running right now that you could enter ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1072147/official-byc-coop-and-run-page-contest-2016/0_30
How to enter is in the first post of the thread. You may need a few more posts to make a coop page but I'm sure once you get chatting you will reach required amount in no time.

Wishing you both the very best of luck and enjoy your time here on BYC :frow

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
