I have 3 chickens who find any and every way possible to escape their 30x30ft yard and their 12x9 coop/barn to lay. I have SO many possible places set up that are private (amazing I must say) nesting boxes/buckets/hidden spots that in a ideal world they would LOVE to lay in. But they jump or crawl under their fence and lay out in the tall ivy that outlines our acre of land. IDK what else I can do, but darn it, I want those eggs and not have to go on a hour long easter egg hunt every single day...lol...
ideas....

Do you leave fake 'nest eggs' in the many nest sites that you have created for your hens. They know you are taking their eggs and are determined to outwit you. 'Nest eggs' may convince them that their chosen nest sites are safe.

If they are escaping their yard its time to tighten up security. Then you can hold them till they lay where they are supposed to. Also if they get out what can get in?
