I'd like to create this thread for anything hurricane related in the 2024 season. It's expected to be the most active season to recorded date. With a La Nina predicted to settle in the waters are extremely hot for this time of the year and there will be no shearing to keep hurricane development at bay. It's kinda the perfect storm for development of hurricanes and rapid development of lage cat 4 or 5 storms. And it's not just the gulf coast that is in danger it is said almost half the injuries or deaths on average are from storms after they have moved far inland.

Like I said I'd just like to make a thread where it'll stay open so we can talk about whatever comes up.

Being where my family is we have been prepping for years and I'll add to the thread periodically and like others to share experiences or questions whenever they may come up.

Doesn't happen up here. My propane tank is filled, and dead trees close to the house have been removed. We'll just hunker down. After we lost power for 11 days with Sandy, we installed a house wide generator.

During ida a couple years ago I witnessed the gas company cutting off natural gas in areas cause when trees would blow over they were pulling the gas lines up with them. So anyone downstream of the affected branch of pipe had no gas for thier whole house generators. If I didn't witness it, it's something I would never had thought about. Talk about some mad people. One of those things you don't think about.
I use propane and regular gas. The propane is great use it as a backup to the gas

Yup went to Costco and purchased batteries. We keep a pantry of goods for hurricane season. Have propane filled up. Living in FL means you need to keep things on hand. We do not live in a coastal community but we have had damage from storms such as Irma that ran up the spine of the state in 2017. We were fortunate as we only lost electric for 2 days. People in town did not have it back for 5 days. Coastal is worse. Please if you live in high risk areas, please prepare.

Yep I live 5 minutes from the gulf irma was a direct hit for me we were without power for a month. Especially with this season predicted to be so active be prepared and become prepared now.

Quick tip

While it's happening 6/24 if anyone would be interested, you can find very good deals on cases of mres. If you're just starting out are already established everyone can use mres. You never know. And before you saw ewwww that mre will start looking good on about day 3.
