There is an ad in my local paper for jungle fowl. I looked them up and they are beautiful birds.

I did a search here, but found almost no information.

I would like to know if I kept them confined for two or three weeks, then let them free range would they return to the coop to roost? Do they have any special requirements? Also if I have a nest box in the coop would they use it or would they prefer to nest outside on the ground?

From what I've read, it sounds like they need to be kept in an aviary--a tall one.

Here is a link to a page on keeping red jungle fowl. Hope it answers a few of your questions:

OMG, they are the best birds to have. They are alert, they can fly to aviod predators, they are a hardy species even in the cold and they are GREAT layers !!

Here is a pic of my roo abd his very loyal hens.

I have NEVER had an issue with them not comming into to roost. In fact they are usually the first to get in.
