Just a little worried.

So I have an egg in my incubator right now that pipped this morning. I heard the chick chirping all night long while the one that hatched Monday was screaming his fool head off in the brooder next to my bed.

The egg pipped on the underside and hasn’t chirped in the last four of five hours. I was asked to roll the egg so the pip was turned upwards and this is what I found.

A small piece of shell broke off and seemed to have dried blood on it but I am not sure that’s exactly what it is or not and I don’t want to make assumptions. We are just hoping this one is still alive and going to break free from its shell. The brother is over a day old and needs company..

A pipped egg underneath is ok. I had that happen with my last two hatches.I was told not to flip it over just leave it as it is. I did find that the upside down pipped ones take a little longer to hatch than the others. I wish you luck.

Thank you! I was worried but unfortunately she did pass in shell. She has pipped into her vein and we didn’t even know it.

Unfortunately she died. She pipped into her own vein and bled into her shell. I kept her in the incubator for an extra day before taking it out and tapping to see if she was still alive or not. I got no sound and no movement so we did an eggtopsy.
I’m very sorry to read that :hugs Unfortunately it’s one of those things that can happen. I’ve had it happen before with one or two.

@NuggetMama Sorry, that's so sad.:hugs
