Just joined up today and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Terry and I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
I haven't purchased any chickens yet but I am busy reading all the threads so I can plan my coop and flock with all the great information. I have a bunch of salvage materials so I do plan on recycling as much as possible in order to complete the coop and run. Right now the only material I don't have is the wire but with a little luck maybe freecycle or craigslist will fill that need.
I am interested in bantam cochins and possibly a few bantam silkies. High egg production is not a major factor but quiet and easily handled hens are. Any recommendations or advice is greatly appreciated.
With any luck I will have everything in place by July so that I can get my first chicks. Until then I will continue to gain some much needed knowledge from these great forum pages.
Have a wonderful Easter weekend!
