Yesterday, I had to have my vet put down the best dog I've ever had. It was gut wrenching, excruciating and I never want to go through it again. I cried for 24 hours. The only time I didn't cry was when I was asleep.

I got on the forum late last night and just got lost in the wonderful threads, playing the "guess the sex of my chicks" games that I love, reading about, and trying to help solve, a few problems. And just enjoying seeing photos of everyone else's beautiful birds. Thank goodness I have lots of poultry projects going on right now to help keep my mind occupied. I have 3 separate groups of chickens going now: 3 day old chicks, 6 week old teenagers, and a flock of adult hens. My son and I are building chicken tractors on top of that. And I just bought a coworker's coop that we've been modifying to improve it.

I just want to say thank you for being here. You may not know what sorrow someone might be experiencing, but they are out there. This forum has provided me with a much-needed mental distraction and I'm so grateful for that.

Here is a photo of the best dog I ever had. He was a retired racing greyhound. I still have one left. After he's gone there will be no more greyhounds for me. There could just never be another one so perfect for me.

Sorry for your loss :(. I lost my best buddy last summer and I think of her every day!
Please know that your sweet memories will last. You are so right to jump right in to other projects to keep your mind occupied. Stay safe.
