(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

No chickens yet. I don't count the the 3 Road Island Reds that just showed up on our small farm tree days ago.

(2) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Internet search

We were going to get a couple of chickens for eggs. That's why we got the 2 chicken coop.

Now we have to figure out how to get the 3 Road Island Reds in to the coop.

Welcome to back yard chickens! Hope you find what you are looking for. You can easily build additional coop space for next to nothing if you have a few tools. Under the articles section there are quite a few coop designs to look over. I would also recommend adding a general geographic location to your profile as often that question comes up needlessly. And delays someone getting you the correct answer some times. Welcome again to BYC. @KikisGirls were you going to upload the welcome video?

G’Day from down under Zooman Florida :frow Welcome!

Oh dear, sounds like you are in for some fun. At least you had planned on chickens which is more than some people who have chickens show up at their doorstep; it happens way more than you think it would.

I battled with a small kit coop for a couple of years which became two kit coops joined together and numerous run enlargements and alterations until we gave up and built big!

Anywho, the kit coop, with modification(s), should do you for a while until you work out how much you love having chickens and chicken math kicks in and you get more!

I agree with sour to catch the girls at night to pop in the coop.

Best wishes!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Hi and welcome to BYC.

Here’s a link to the Articles section - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/ There you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs.

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.
