Just built my coop and run ready for my chickens

hi there, a fantastic site/forum that ive read extensilvely to gain loads of information.
Im yet to get my new birds ( about a week away)
Just a quick question..
i do alot of freshwater fishing and i use quite alot of hempseed as a fish attractor.
I buy it uncooked and cook it so the kernels open for the fish to home in on.
Would there be any ill effect for me to give it to the chickens as an uncooked seed ?

Without knowing the 100% right answer I'd have to say it wouldn't hurt your birds - it's a wild plant seed so I would assume they'd be fine. But again...just my guess.

Also, when locking the chickens away at night, would they need water to be left in their coop overnight or would they be fine till morning?

I make sure my chickens have access to water 100% of the time, even at night when in the coop

just a little update, chickens ended up coming early..we have 3 all bovane brown goldline
they already seem friendly
all fairly new to me so im a bit naive but looking forward to the learning curve with my chickens
