My duck eggs are on day 21...and I checked on them a few minutes ago and the temp was 98.6. So I thought I'd turn the nob up and sat there for about 10 minutes and the gage just kept going down and down and down. I know it has power because the fan was going and the red light would light up at the top. I have a cheap styrofoam LG incubator.

I also have chicken eggs right next to it in another LG incubator. So I switched tops and still the temp kept dropping

...and so I switched thermometers and the temp kept dropping with the other thermometer!

I don't know what to do

...I am deeply saddened and depressed and I have no idea what is going on...I make sure everytime to check the top to insure that it's on correctly. I never pick up or handle the incubators...so I don't see how any could get damaged. I made sure and checked for cracks and they are all fine and have worked perfectly for the past 3 weeks.

Temp is still down at 97...has been for about 20 minutes...I just can't believe this is happening...I have babied those duck eggs for 3 weeks. Turned them 5 times a day and made sure I misted them everyday.

I never knew that I could get so upset over eggs...but I am!

Wish the little ducklings luck! I don't think they can make it unless I can figure out what's going on at 1:30 in the morning...poor little guys

Best of luck--I really hope they pull through for you!

I definitely know the feeling of expecting a hatch and not having it happen... It's sad, and disappointing.

I'll be wishing the best for your ducklings! If this batch doesn't work out, please don't give up, though. I had several rough batches with no babies at all, and now I've got lots of chicks from this hatch!

Could be the wafer going bad and they aren't but like 3 bucks to fix, or it could be the outlet is drained. Always plug your incubator into a power surge protector so it doesn't get the power pulled from it.

Have faith, I lost power for over 24 hours when the tornado came thru and took out all the power lines. They all hatched just fine. As I understand it they can take the flucuation near end of hatch.

How many days does it take a duck to hatch?

Good luck!!

A flux to 98.6 for a day isn't going to hurt them. Be careful fussing with thermostats during incubation, as it is easy to fry things. The temp around eggs might be different too depending on where the thermometer is. No need to stress on one deg.
