What kind of predator would leave behind just a pile of clean feathers? No blood, guts or other body parts. We found a pile of white feathers on the far corner of our yard, just 100 yds. or so from my coop, and a neighbors pigeon hutch in the other direction. We determined it was the remains of one of their pigeons, but it does concern me since it was so close to my coop. We have spotted a fox near the coop once, and found racoon scat nearby as well, but so far nothing has tried to dig into the run or break into the coop that we can see. My girls are always secured in the coop at night. I know different predators will leave different evidence, so does anyone have an idea what might have done this?

When my chickens disappeared recently, all that was left behind were piles of feathers, just like yours. No blood, no remains. I called a trapper. He came out and determined it was raccoons. He found a trail in the woods with coon tracks and more feathers. He also said coons are more active this time of year. We now have traps set and fingers crossed.
