Hi everyone! I just built my coop ALL BY MYSELF using repurposed and free materials (except the hardware cloth and hardware). I even dragged that shed in pieces from the neighbor's yard. I have 4 barred rock chicks that are 4 weeks old.
*Hardware cloth is quarter inch and dug a foot into the ground with landscape rocks against the edge all around too. I used screws and washers everywhere it is attached
*The run cover is chicken wire weaves together with galvanized wire. There are sharp things on the roof line in case a predator wanted entry from above.
*Weather wise (zone 5) I have a tarp to cover the sides of the run and am looking to source a free roof or something to provide some rain protection in the run
*windows are reinforced with hardware cloth and washers/screws
I want to post some pictures for feedback. See if there are things that could be better.
This is the outdoor roost.
Dust bath they will probably ignore haha
Ramp up to the roost and food and food storage under the poop deck
Nest box
Roost, poop deck (metal roofing that slides in and out) and hanging water with nipples
Window props open and has a two motion latch lock. This is one of three windows. There's also attic air vents at the roofline.
Window closed
Door with the pop out and ramp. Lock is a combination on the door as well as the pop out door
Coop full view
Thanks for looking and commenting!!
