We have broilers coming in 2 weeks so we had to build a tractor for them. Here it is.

i know...the odvious question is arn't the chickens supposed to be in the tractor? lol there is only one that will live in this tractor until the broilers come and this sorry bugger below lol

Whiteman is the 2nd rooster. When we rescued them he was such a sorry bugger all scraggly and shy, still is all scraggly as seen in the picture i just took today, but over the last month he is fattening up and now starting to cause problems so he will be living in the tractor til the broilers come then its crock pot for the poor guy! LOL

In the picture above is our whole flock except for Whiteman. Off in the distance in front of the white fence to the left are our 2 pullets. They can hang with the flock but some hens chase them if they get to frisky.

Looks great! I like how you put the access for the nesting boxes on the back side instead of a lid - if I'm seeing it correctly. Our one my husband did so far he put the boxes with a separate lid and he's been trying to figure out a better way because we need 4-5 more :) I'll have to show him this photo. Looks great! We did wheels on ours too, I see a lot without wheels and I couldn't move them IMO :)

Real nice job with that tractor. That rooster looks like he's been through the ringer...scrappy looking guy.
Scrappy for sure!!! now that he is getting healthy! ya they have all been through alot. Most of them are missing feathers and not in good shape but they are recovering. They were in a real crappy home. The owner had 3 roosters with 10 hens in a small, **** filled, stank from 30 ft coop with a tiny run and they never got out and were odviously not feed enough. Poor things. Sadly we had to dispatch with rooster #2 asap as once they became free range here at home it was disaster between the top 2 roosters.

Now that Whiteman has had time to be free and live happily, he has recovered well and is growing his feather back and getting bigger....but it is bringin problems with it. We were hoping he would just stay subordinant to El Diablo but not that case :(

wheels were a must for us!! lol Glad you like the back entrance. It made the most sense to me for when i clean it. You can also see there is a lid on top at the front of the tractor. This is were the waterer and feeder will be hanging, from the second beam, we can just reach in and unclip them and fill them up. Its actually very easy to pull considering its mostly wood. I thought it would be heavy but nope! easy peasy!

We weren't to sure about whether to put actual nesting boxes inside the box because they will be broilers and not layers in the tractor and only about 5-6 of them this time around. We might go for 10 next time around. We are new to having chickens so i am not sure if the broilers will be fine with just a roost bar in the box.

I love your chicken tractor! That is next on our list of to-do's, a least for the chicken-side of the operation! Saving this photo...thanks for posting!
