I was watching Les Mis the other day, and one of the songs got stuck in my head. Somehow, the words got changed . . . .
Can you hear the broody sing?
Screaming the song of angry hens.
It's the sound of a broody that will not be "broke" again!
As she huddles on her nest,
As she growls, and fluffs, and picks,
You can tell she's made up her mind to raise some chicks.
Not the top roo in the henhouse,
Not a goat, nor sheep, nor cow.
Nothing can disrupt the broody,
Even if they did know how.
She's determined to raise her some chickies, she's doing it now!
Can you hear the broody sing?
Screaming the song of angry hens.
It's the sound of a broody who will not be "broke" again!
As she huddles on her nest,
As she growls, and fluffs, and picks,
You can tell she's made up her mind to raise some chicks.
In chicken coop and backyard,
In barns across the land.
Broody hens have all decided,
To sit down, and take a stand.
The moment of raising a new generation's at hand!
Can you hear the broody sing?
Screaming the song of angry hens.
It's the sound of a broody that will not be "broke" again!
As she huddles on her nest,
As she growls, and fluffs, and picks,
You can tell she's made up her mind to raise some chicks.
After all the days of sitting,
The time of hatching is now near.
You can hear them softly tapping,
Muffled cheeping fills the air.
Their pipping, unzipping, and pushing and drying,
THEY"RE HERE!!!
Can you hear the broody sing?
Screaming the song of angry hens.
It's the sound of a broody that could not be "broke" again.
As she shepherds her new peeps,
As she growl, and fluffs, and picks,
You can tell she's made up her mind to raise those chicks!
