Just found a baby duck; need info ASAP

I looked at feathersite's mallard pics, and I am sure that's what it is. It looks like it couldn't be over 3 days old. It is a fiesty little booger it ran away from me when I was trying to catch it. Now, it's got a warm place with food and water, and I hope she/he will be happy. I am thinking of getting it some friends. Right now the smallest chickens I have are OEGB's a pair that are about 12 weeks old.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses, I walked out to the creek to see if I can find a nest or the mom, but no such luck. I am actually pretty excited to keep it since I've never had a duck before.

Now to research about ducks, I like to keep my animals comfortable and happy.

You may want to add some niacin if you are using chick starter. Ducks need three times the niacin chicks do, for optimal nutrition. Bugs have niacin in their bodies, but depending on where you keep the duckling, you may want to supplement. A light sprinkle of brewer's yeast on their food, or 100 to 150 mg per gallon of water (per Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks) until it is ten weeks old.

Lack of niacin can cause neurological problems.
