just getting started

Hi just found this site while researching raising chickens. We are currently converting our backyard root cellar into a chicken coop. I am researching coop designs and trying to figure out how to get started. Never had chickens before, but my husband and I have talked about it for years. We live in Albuquerque, NM in a part of the city that has a lot of urban farming going on. Actually, this part of the city used to be farms. I know next to nothing about raising chickens, so I am learning as we go along. I'm sure I will have questions at some point, but for now I am enjoying the BYC site and reading all I can!
